My first blog post since 2009...boy have I changed!!

Hey, I'm starting this blog back up because I want to blog about the time I spend working on my fundraiser and the experience of it all.
This whole thing seems really impossible right now buy it will work out! I know it!
I have decided that I want to set up a fundraiser for The Ronan Thompson Foundation. I have been reading Ronan's mother's blog for awhile now and it has moved me to really do something about this. I 'm not just going to sit around here doing nothing and just feeling sad and praying for these people all the time. Cancer has touched me...it has touched my family...and I want it to back off. Read Ronan's story and you will understand why I feel this way. It's a very heart breaking story! I want to get involved and help.

So first of all, I sent his mother, Maya, an email asking if it would be alright if I used the foundation and her blog and all that for the fundraiser. I feel like I would want to be asked, so I asked her. It was the most nerve racking experience ever. I just want this to be ok so that I can help.

Once she emails back and gives me permission I want to go ahead and get some local volunteers and sponsors. I know I can find them in this town because people here band together. :) My community rocks!!!

The kind of volunteers I will need are:

Performers. I want to have a music filled show. Whether you be a singer, player or a dancer...I want to include lots of different flavor to it so it will be entertaining and keep people listening! But, it needs to be family oriented. I want everyone to be able to come because EVERYONE is affected by cancer.

Sponsors. I need people to donate so that we can buy food, rent a place, have a raffle, etc. I have no idea how much money I will need to do something like this but if we have more than what we need than I will just donate it to Ronan.

Various Volunteers. I need people to cook the food and help sell it on the day of the fundraiser, people to volunteer to bake and sell baked goods, people to help with flyers/posters, people to ask for donations, and random other people.

Vendors. It would be wonderful if I could get some people who would like to sell their goods and donate some of what they make or all of what they make that day to Ronan's foundation. My friend Ellie Bott (Holla!!) is going to make some crochet things to sell, as she is trying to start a small business making them. It will be great advertising for you and for your business. :)

That's all for tonight. Thanks for reading and hopefully volunteering. I hope you read Ronan's story and decide to help!!! It's important in life to stand for something bigger than yourself and this is what I want to do. I hope to do this every year if it goes over well!!
